Poo! Whats that Fishy Smell?

This is a little post i wrote for an adult industry forum. Thought my readers might want to have a read.. could be helpful :)

Just in case you dont know...
WL = Working Lady

Poo! Whats That Fishy Smell??

You're going down on a girl, all is good, she mounts you, you fuck like a champ and then.. what the fuck is that smell? Ewww you smell fish. NOT HOT... but, not dangerous to you thank god!

That fishy smell is most probably Baterial Vaginosis, aka BV. It is a pH imbalance in a vagina. It is not an std or sti and it is not harmful to you.
WL"s with this smell, should get to a doctor! But there are so many ladies and men, who know nothing about this common problem! By posting this, im just making people aware and maybe if you come across it with a WL, you can perhaps point her in the right direction.

When i was having a break from sex work 3yrs ago, i was a bit of a tart. i had quite a few fuck buddies, all of which i practised safe sex with. I started to notice, straight after my period finished, everytime i had sex, i would smell a fishy smell.. i didnt know hat it was! Was it the brand of condoms? My period doin weird things? The smell wasnt there when i masterbated or had daty, only after intercourse. After 3 days it would go away but then when my next period ended, it would begin all over again. I was very embarassed about it and started not having sex at that time of the month. When i went back to sex work, i spoke to anthor WL about it and she told me what it was - BV. I went to the doctors and since then have learnt all about it and havent many problems since There are some great things out there to prevent it from happening.

Some facts!

*Something as simple as antibiotics can give a woman BV
*A healthy vagina normally contains many microorganisms; some of the common ones are Lactobacillus crispatus and Lactobacillus jensenii. Lactobacillus, particularly hydrogen peroxide-producing species, appears to help prevent other vaginal microorganisms from multiplying to a level where they cause symptoms. The microorganisms involved in BV are very diverse, but include Gardnerella vaginalis, Mobiluncus, Bacteroides, and Mycoplasma. A change in normal bacterial flora including the reduction of lactobacillus, which may be due to the use of antibiotics or pH imbalance, allows more resistant bacteria to gain a foothold and multiply. In turn these produce toxins which affect the body's natural defenses and make re-colonization of healthy bacteria more difficult.
*A virgin can have BV
*BV occurs more in women who have lots of sexual partners.
*It is treatable with antibiotics
*It is not dangerous to a man
*It can be prevented with pH balancing gels (which also can prevent thrush- another common problem women with multiple partners can have happen)
*BV is not completely understood by scientists, and the best ways to prevent it are unknown. However, it is known that BV is associated with having a new sex partner or having multiple sex partners.

The following basic prevention steps can help reduce the risk of upsetting the natural balance of bacteria in the vagina and developing BV:
Be abstinent.
Limit the number of sex partners.
Do not douche.
Use all of the medicine prescribed for treatment of BV, even if the signs and symptoms go away.

So as you can see, most WL's are going to run into this problem at some point. Alot of younger WL's i have met knew nothing about BV and i urge you, if you come across a WL that has this funky smell and you want to help, mention BV and suggest a doctor visit. She might not know she has it or even know it is a problem!

Thanks for reading x x
